Cyclone Vardah took quite a toll in most parts of Chennai, as it did across Tamil Nadu. The city's open urban spaces virtually transformed into a dense thicket overnight, massive uprooted tree trunks lay littered all over like an impermeable maze, crushing concrete, metal, earth, and smaller flora.
Then, one day, there was a sapling that squeezed itself, by sheer force of will, through a great big chunk of bark and reached for the Sun. Plant gotta photosynthesise. Chennai gotta rise.
